So, ask Bret Michaels “what’s new” and it may take some time for him to answer. Let’s see, Michaels won this year's "Celebrity Apprentice" after an extreme health scare and a seemingly miraculous recovery. An appearance on the finale of "American Idol" was met with the hysteria befitting of a Beatle (Ringo, perhaps?). But most noteworthy, Bret Michaels visited with Oprah. Oprah? The host of “Rock of Love” is Oprah-worthy? Puh-leez. And think about it, Oprah's influence is far and wide. And since her rabid audience buy Oprah-endorsed product en masse, if Bret had a decent album on the shelves, then he may actually have had a shot at a late career hit. But that is another story!
This summer, Bret Michaels is the unlikely opener for Lynyrd Skynyrd on the "Gods & Guns" tour. The rocker with the fastest healing brain in the Northern Hemisphere tends to have a more country or southern rock vibe (at times) in his solo shows, but you have to wonder how true to the original version of ‘Talk Dirty to Me” will go over with Skynyrd’s core audience. Then again, there may be more middle-aged women in the attendance then there are rabid Skynyrd fans, so he may be safe from flying bottles of Budweiser!
