Hair metal and hard rock mania starts here! Whether you were screwed, blued or just part of a motley crew, love for the hard rock bands from the 80's remains today. Come here for some of the latest (but not so greatest) news from around this great big thing that we call "The 'Net."
Gramma, put the webcam down! Here’s a quirky video featuring someone’s Grandparents jamming to – death metal. Death metal? Yes – death metal! I’d feel better about this whole thing if they were acting like this to something like Bulletboys.
Butch Walker brings great hooks and melodies to the rock n roll table. A former member of Southgang, Butch has done well for himself with producing, but commercial success for his own music has been elusive. His new single sounds a little like Tom Petty, but it's still one of the best singles of 2008.
“The Weight of Her” is the brand new single from Butch Walker. It is available on iTunes, and another new song can be listened to at http://www.myspace.com/butchwalker. Very rootsy. Very good. Almost like music from the heartland – but Butch Walker style! His new album will be available in November 2008.
Hey - when in doubt, I guess music marketers and musicians still like to shock and awe the audience with some sex, boobs, violence and/or some good ol' rock n' roll spirit (i.e. fire, drinking, drugs, groupies, trashing hotel rooms). Motley Crue has recently released an uncensored video for their new single, "Mutherfucker of the Year." Cute title. What? "Animal Necrophilia" is too tasteless?
Congrats to Sixx for being in two bands that have used the word "fuck" in song titles this century (see - Brides of Deconstruction).
Sinopoli burst upon the New Jersey rock scene at a time when other locals such as Bon Jovi (maybe you've heard of them?) and Skid Row were securing their footing in rock history. The band was a regular staple at the legendary Olsen's, and was know to dazzle local shore crowds at The Chatterbox, Galaxy and Captain Hook's as well. "Got Me Going" was a legitimate local hit at a time when the smaller radio stations could actually pick the songs that they wanted to play, and Sinopoli was heard on the airwaves along side such other hard rock luminaries as Def Leppard, Poison, Guns N Roses, and the aforementioned Bon Jovi. Never one to be pigeon-holed, these hard rockers displayed a wide variety of styles in their songwriting, and easily found favor with rock fans both young and old. Their independently released EPs "Rock To The Top" and "Sinopoli II" sold well at concerts and in area record stores.
Enuff Z'Nuff returns to the spotlight with a strong set of songs under their belts. This is easily the best collection of tunes in a long time. Although labeled as the next Enuff Z'Nuff album "Lost In Vegas," both the track listing and title have changed. This is just a cool group of songs that has been circulating. The new album "Dissonance" will be released soon, and feature Jake E Lee on guitar.
Van Halen announcement this week? Don't count on it...while 2007 tour plans continue to be debated and venues investigated, no one seems to know when any possible announcement is coming. Stay tuned I guess (again/still...).
Okay, so Pink doesn't know all the words to Skid Row's 18 & Life. But she gets points for balls and attitude. Plus Metal Skool is a killer tribute to the 80's bands.
