A five-year performing/residency deal, valued at $1 billion, has been offered by Las Vegas officials looking to give the struggling gamblers’ heaven a boost to its tourist traffic. The deal also would likely involve appearances at more than one casino. Can a little Madonna go a long way?
Despite suffering during a bad economy, Las Vegas seems to still be a viable option for many entertainers. Madonna will be able to reach a steady audience without having to tour and/or for an extended period of time. Sure – the audiences will be smaller, but she’ll be performing fairly often. Even smaller acts like Cheap Trick put Las Vegas on their schedule; they are playing six dates in the fall, and the theme is their tribute to Sgt. Pepper.
