Word on the street is that Dave Letterman is forming a record label partnership with Capitol Records and none other than the infamous hair metal dude Jack Ponti. And while an article on Exclaim! indentifies Mr. Ponti as a hair metal producer, I think he's better defined as a hair metal "song doctor" whose name appears third or fourth on filler songs by Trixter, Nelson, Bon Jovi (the first album's "Shot Through The Heart") and many more. Jack Ponti also has a solid cult status among the European AOR-loving community as well. The venture's first signees are the relatively unknown Huntington Beach, CA pop-punkers Runner Runner. Their lead single, “So Obvious,” is currently streaming now on MySpace.
Good luck, guys! And since Ponti's label released former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach's last album, I wonder if he's wondering about possibly a follow-up? If Ratt can come back to some critical acclaim, maybe the youth can go wild once more!
