Don't call it a comeback. He's been here for years. On Broadway. VH-1. And now on tour with Poison. Ladies and gentlemen - Sebastian Bach!
From BradentonHerald.com:
Music trends come and go faster than you can say "swing music revival." Artists often find themselves a thing of the past before they even begin to reach their full potential.
Nirvana has almost single-handedly been credited, or blamed (depending on whom you ask) with the demise of '80s metal as it was. Some of those artists are content, or more likely forced, into accepting their fate as a retro act.
Sebastian Bach makes it very clear that he's not interested in reliving old glory days when there are still even better days ahead.
"It's expected of me to just go up there and just do old songs, but that's just too easy and that's not why we're here. We have a new record. I'm not here to relive '89, I'm here to make the summer of 2008 a memory that's just as powerful. That's why what I'm doing is a little different than what some of these other bands are doing," he said.
Bach will be playing at the Ford Amphitheatre on Tuesday along with Dokken, and Poison on a tour that he is very excited about.
"This is going to be the best summer of my life. Guys like Bret Michaels and I have been doing this a long time. We KNOW how to kick your ass. We have been putting on huge shows for a long time now. These kids that go on 'American Idol' and expect to be big rock stars . . . you don't learn that in one TV season. It's a lifelong pursuit of rock," he said.
When asked if he resented being associated with '80s "hair bands" he joked, "I got (expletive) hair so I guess I bring that on myself with my long, luxurious, flowing locks. I got my long hair from guys like Willie Nelson and Gregg Allman, so I guess those guys are hair metal too or whatever you want to call it. At the end of the day I think I'll be remembered more for my voice than my hair. I'm not here to represent 100 other bands I don't know as part of some (expletive) retro movement. That's not what we're doing. We're doing more new songs than old and the crowd loves it"
The new record is "Angel Down" which is released on his own label and distributed by E.M.I. The record should make fans of good, old fashion metal very happy. It has all the desired elements - screeching vocals, huge guitars and a thundering rhythm section. Songs range from thrash to ballads and everything in between within the genre.
